After a day full of dress shopping, a cake cafe caught our eye – Ministry of cakes. So what else do the three stooges do? We enter and stuff our faces with cakes of course! We stepped inside and was surrounded by a beautiful smell of baked goodies. There were wedding cakes and novelty cakes on display and so we sat our tooshies down and looked over the menu.
We decided to share 2 cakes seeing as we were already a tad full. First up was the french vanilla slice with custard. We didn’t really enjoy this quite as much since I found the custard to be a tad solid and not as squishy. The pastry itself was amazing and crackled and flaked when stabbed with a fork which was a plus.
Mille Feuille – $4.50
Stooge 2 got the Ek Mek which was one of their recommended cakes and that was a crunchy filo pastry with fresh custard, whipped cream and crushed walnuts and cinnamon. This was quite different to what I would usually eat and it was quite lovely. Not overly sweet with lots of different textures in one dish. Great if you haven’t tried this before.
Ek Mek – $4.50
The staff were super friendly and came out to talk to us and recommend dishes since we were quite indecisive. They have heaps of miniature cakes in the windows so I’ll have to drop by and check that out too.
