So it was a catch up with my stooges again and this time we wanted to try Armenian cuisine (we had to google where Armenia was….) so we booked Sezar! We were running a bit late and called them to let us know and they were so great, telling us it was okay and to take our time. When we finally got there, we were seated ordered gin and tonics (Yes we are like old men trapped in women’s bodies haha).
We decided to order various dishes to share. First up were the small dishes and we got the seared hervey bay scallops with cauliflower puree, cumin caramal and zaatar. This was so beautiful. A plus that we love scallops too!
Seared Hervey Bay Scallops – $11 for 2 pieces
Next up was Bastourma and eggs which is armenian air dried beef, quail egg, toasted brioche and garlic jam. This dinner is just going uphill, this was AMAZING!! My gosh! I was totally loving Sezar right now. The flavours were perfect and everything was just great!
Bastourma and Eggs – $10 for 2 pieces
We also ordered Crispy Potato & Soujak Kofte with Red Pepper Aioli. These little croquette things just melted in our mouths. AAAAMAZING!
Crispy Potato & Soujak Kofte – $9 for 2 pieces
Next up was the Spiced BBQ Chicken (½ bird) with Bulgur, corn and herbed yoghurt. I didn’t particularly like this dish. It was a disappointment since the small dishes were DELISH! Sad times. We also got the triple cooked chips with roasted garlic and aleppo pepper. They were actually pretty good!!
Spiced BBQ Chicken (½ Bird) – $28; Triple Cooked Chips – $9
Finally for dessert we got the tasting platter since we figured we could finish it with the three of us. Now, I’m sucker for dessert and I was so disappointed in this…(don’t you hate it when you’re waiting for something for so long and it disappoints..).
Overall, I’d come back for the small dishes but other than that I don’t think I would come back. Sorry Sezar
